In Kants words, Act only according to that maxim by which you can at the same time will that it should become a ecumenic law. Thus an action that is motivated by good will is universally good. Kant criticized the Utilitarian theories that rate the action based on the happiness it produced. According to Utilitarianism, whatever produces the nearly happiness in the most people is the moral course of action. This could lead to the happiness of many at the expense of a few peoples misery.
